Sacred Honor
Honouring Excellence Through Sacred Craftsmanship
Convocation ceremonies are more than academic milestones—they are celebrations of achievement, leadership, and the pursuit of knowledge. When Samrat Vikramaditya University, Ujjain began planning its Convocation Ceremony, the University sought a meaningful memento that reflected the spiritual identity of Ujjain while embracing the values of sustainability and innovation.
The University’s Vice Chancellor selected Pushpam’s Sushobhan Thali from the Mahakaleshwar Temple Collection to be presented as the official ceremonial memento for the occasion.
Each handcrafted Sushobhan Thali is created from 2.1 kilograms of sacred flower offerings made to Shree Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga. Through Pushpam’s Pushpcycle™ technology, these sacred flowers are respectfully collected, processed, and transformed into elegant keepsakes, allowing their spiritual journey to continue in a meaningful new form.
A total of 30 Sushobhan Thalis were handcrafted for the Convocation Ceremony. During the event, these sacred creations were presented to Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Mohan Yadav, and Hon’ble Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Mangubhai Patel, symbolising the harmonious blend of faith, craftsmanship, and sustainability.
The initiative demonstrated how sacred temple offerings can be respectfully transformed into products of lasting significance while preserving their spiritual essence and promoting a circular approach to temple waste management.
The impact of this initiative extended far beyond the ceremonial presentation. Recognising the potential of transforming sacred temple flower offerings into valuable products while creating local livelihoods and a circular economy, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced a grant of ₹51 lakh to Samrat Vikramaditya University, Ujjain, to support the establishment of a Pushpam’s temple flower recycling and value-addition facility in Ujjain. The announcement reflected a shared vision of combining spirituality, sustainability, research, and innovation to create lasting environmental and social impact.
