Art Styles

Pichhwai

Pichhwai is a traditional Indian art form that originated in Nathdwara, Rajasthan, as devotional paintings dedicated to Shrinathji. These intricate artworks are typically created on cloth, featuring elaborate depictions of Krishna’s life, festivals, and seasons often adorned with motifs of cows, lotus, peacocks and sacred landscapes. Rich in symbolism, Pichhwai paintings were originally used as temple backdrops but have now evolved into a celebrated art form admired globally. Known for their meticulous detailing, vibrant colors, and spiritual depth, Pichhwai artworks embody devotion, heritage, and storytelling, keeping centuries-old traditions alive through contemporary adaptations.

Madhubani

This artistic portrayal transforms Hanuman into not only a divine protector but also a cultural icon celebrated through the rhythm and vibrancy of Madhubani art. Madhubani painting, also known as Mithila art, is a traditional folk art form from Bihar, India. Characterized by intricate patterns, bold lines, and vibrant natural colors, it depicts themes from mythology, folklore, and nature. Traditionally painted on walls and floors during festivals and rituals, Madhubani art is now created on paper, cloth, and canvas, gaining international recognition.

Kalighat

The Kalighat style, born in 19th-century Bengal, is known for its bold brushstrokes, sweeping lines, and expressive forms. Traditionally used to depict gods, goddesses, and everyday life, its immediacy and vibrancy remain timeless. For Pushpam’s Devi series, Kalighat inspires the portrayal of the nine forms of Durga, and the Goddesses Kali, Lakshmi, Saraswati & Parvati. Rather than imitating its originals, we adapt its energy, simplicity, and color play into contemporary graphics—powerful yet minimal, devotional yet striking.
